Our Club History
The City of Elgin and Elgin Police Department, growing tired of its with escalating drug & gang problems, decided to unite with key stakeholders to find a solution. Enter the Boys & Girls Club of Elgin, which was officially founded on November 9, 1993.

Club staff and board members quickly realized the growing need for Elgin's youth to have a safe place after-school. If they were to keep up with the demand, a larger facility was crucial. With the support of the community and foundations, the Club embarked on a $3 million dollar capital campaign to raise funds to support the construction of a brand new 15,000 square foot facility.

Club staff and board worked hard to establish the club as the premier youth-serving organization in the area. Shortly thereafter, School District U-46 took notice of these efforts and established a partnership to better serve at-risk students.

The partnership with U-46 has grown to serving over 6 schools: Abbott, Elgin, Ellis, Kimball, Larkin & Larsen. Partnered with the Clubhouse, the Club was able to serve over 2,000 youth for the year. What a perfect way to celebrate 20 years in the Elgin community!

The Club completed its 2-year long renovation project of adding a commercial kitchen to the clubhouse. Now, over 500 meals are served daily and members are leaving will full bellies.

Our after school program is undergoing a BIG change. Beginning this upcoming 2017-2018 school year our teen program will now be offered at our main clubhouse and our elementary program will be extended out to U-46 Elementary Schools.
